OHRD Projects:

Accordance to the its mission statement and core activities, OHRD has implemented a variety of projects since its establishment and make efforts to raise funds for sustainability of its programs in accordance to its mission statement and core values/activities. The following is the list of projects implemented so far or presently being implemented:

 

Project Name:            Improving Knowledge & Capacities on Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance in Balkh, Jowzjan & Samangan provinces of Afghanistan 

Donor:                          Embassy of Finland in Kabul-Afghanistan

Duration:                       6 Month (1st February, 2012 up to 31st July 2012).

Project location:             3 provinces of Afghanistan (Balkh, Jowzjan and Samangan).

Overall objective:           To improve knowledge and enhance demand-capacities for Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance in Balkh, Jowzjan and Samangan provinces of Afghanistan

Specific objectives:        To raise the awareness of 100 school teachers (male /female) to embed their knowledge on Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance in their teaching plans and programs for students in Balkh, Jowzjan and Samangan provinces. 

To promote understanding of human rights, women's rights, and democracy among the 100 staffs from governmental and civil society organizations and to advance their capacities in practice and advocacy for it, in Balkh, Jowzjan and Samangan provinces.

To enhance capacities and knowledge of 100 members of provincial councils and CDCs members on human rights, women’s rights, and democracy in Balkh, Jowzjan and Samangan provinces to improve their alert contributions in discussions, planning, practices and monitoring processes.

Output:                Research on forms of violation against women;Finding women rights’ violation cases from all over Afghanistan; Documenting the cases and its use in TV program production; Airing the messages on awareness raisig on women rights and its protection in daily TV programs to 15 provinces of Afghanistan (6 minutes per program, totally in 312 programs during one year life of project); Collecting people’s views and opinions on the aired messages and its application in the next programs; Facilitating the advocacy for the identified and aired cases;

Project Name:      Practical Journalism Diploma program for Women 

Donor:                   Afghan Women’s Empowerment (AWE) Grants

Duration:               12 months (15th Sep 2011 to 15th Sep 2012)

Goal:                     To increase women’s participation in the Journalism sphere

Objective:              To train 70 women on Practical journalism studies through a 1-Year diploma program in Kabul.

Output:                 70 women/girles will be trained by Armaghan higher education institute (they will complete one year diploma program on practical juornalisam).

Project Name:       Leadership and Advocacy Diploma program for Women

Donor:                    US Embassy, Kabul

Duration:                12 months (15.08.2012 to 14.08.2012)

Goal:                      To increase women’s participation in the political sphere

Objective:               To train 80 women on Leadership and Political studies through a 1-Year diploma program in Kabul

 Output:                  80 women/girls will be trained by Armaghan higher education institute (they will complete one year diploma program on leadership and advocacy)

Project Name:    capacity building program to UNODC and MCN

Donor:                 UNODC

Location:              Kabul, Balkh, Nangarhar and Herat provinces

Duration:             6 months (from 1st June 2008 to 30th November 2008)

Achievement:       Total 277 staff of UNODC and MCN(30 UNODC and 247 MCN staffs) have trained through conducting of 19 different training workshops such as proposal writing, report writing, advocacy, community mobilization, Data collection & analysis, Project planning,, Communication, Monitoring & evaluation etc.

Project Name:   CoAR Management Review

Client:                NRC

Location:            Kabul city

Duration:           3 Months (from March 2009 to May 2009)

Achievement:     OHRD Conducted CoAR Management Review through its capacity building department. This project was funded by NRC. The Management review report submitted to NRC in May 2009.

Status:             Completed

 

Project Name:  capacity building program to CARE International Partners

Client:                CARE International

Location:            Kabul city

Duration:            5 months (from February 2009 to June 2009 )

Achievement:     Total 93 staffs of CARE international partners trained through conducting of five training workshops such as management, leadership, Reporting writing, proposal writing, and Monitoring & evaluation.

Status:             Completed

 

Project Name: Capacity building program for Counter Narcotics

Client:               Adam Smith International

Location:           Kabul city

Duration:          4 months (from March 2009 to June 2009)

Achievement:    Total 99 Senior staffs of Ministry of Counter Narcotics (MCN) through conducting two workshops such as General Management, Monitoring & coordination.

Status:             Completed

 

Project Name:   Capacity building program

Client:                 Helvetas’ International

Location:             Kabul city

Duration:            1 month (March 2010)

Achievement:      Total 42 staffs of Helvetas have received a five days training of TOT and a five days training on Disaster Risk Management concepts.

Status:               Completed

 

Project Name:   Capacity building program

Client:                 Afghan Aid

Location:             Kabul city

Duration:            2 months (from March 2010 to April 2010)

Achievement:      Total 92 staff of Afghan Aid has received a 5 separate days training on CBDRM concepts in Samanggan province.

Status:               Completed

 

Project Name:   Strategic plan Development facilitation

Client:                 STARS

Location:             Kabul city

Duration:            six months (from January 2010 to June 2010)

Achievement:      OHRD facilitated an organization strategic plan development process for (STARS) during 2010.

Status:               Completed

 

Project Name:  Capacity building program

Client:                ACTED

Location:            Kabul city

Duration:           6 months (from January 2010 to June 2010)

Achievement:     Total 90 technical and managerial staff of ACTD have trained though conducting of five different workshops such as Gender, Advocacy, ToT, PCM, PRA.

Status:              Completed
